Conversation & Cocktails

In 2008, the Madison Public Library Foundation introduced a new opportunity to benefit Foundation programs and activities for the Madison Public Library. Creating an evening of informal discussion and a few drinks with a known and respected member of our community became Conversation & Cocktails. Last year we featured a pediatrician and librarian who often “prescribes” reading for his young patients and the program was a huge success.

This year’s event will welcome Michael Feldman, of the NPR radio show Whad'Ya Know? as our featured guest speaker. Anyone aware of Michael’s work knows to expect the unexpected when this clever humorist takes the microphone. He also has a new book, Whad'Ya Know? Bathroom Reader, “a brand-new bathroom reader collection, with Feldman-penned features perfectly sized for spending a little time on the throne.”

Conversation & Cocktails is a wonderful way to support the important services of the Madison Public Library and enjoy the benefits of a marvelous event at the same time. The event will be held at the Sundance Cinema Bar Bistro at 403 N. Midvale Blvd. on Saturday, October 24th from 5-7 pm.

This will be an intimate evening of a few hundred people and you can be one of the lucky ones attending. Proceeds from this year’s Conversation & Cocktails will benefit the operation of the MPLF as well as grants that the Foundation makes annually to the Madison Public Library for resources and programs.  One example is the Summer Library (Reading) Program, serving over 6000 Madison young people. What a great way to instill a passion for libraries with today’s youth.
