Support

Donate now via the City of Madison's secure server (credit card or ETF).

Our goal is to make your on-line giving experience user friendly. You are now able to specify your contribution to the various Madison Public Library Foundation projects.

Opportunities for contributing include:

Annual Fund: Each year the Madison Public Library Foundation grants monies to enhance Library resources and programs. These gifts fuel our programs and offerings such as expanded collections, youth programs, electronic resources and more.

Capital Campaigns: The Madison Public Library system strives to meet the challenges of continual improvement through the generosity of our donors. As we set new goals, you have the opportunity to dramatically affect the quality of life in your city, your neighborhood, and in your neighborhood library.

Special Events: The Madison Public Library Foundation presents an annual event each Fall to highlight innovative talent in our community with proceeds benefiting Madison Public Library programs.

Endowments: Some gifts have the power to ensure the well being of the Library for generations to come. The Madison Public Library Foundation endowments are designed to sustain our institution as our city grows. Consider contributing to an existing fund, or ask us about establishing one of your own. Every gift makes a difference.

Thank you for your on-going support of the Madison Public Library Foundation.

Planned Giving

How do you want to leave your legacy? Support the Madison Public Library with a planned gift.

“It was easy to name MPL Foundation a beneficiary of my IRA account.  My future gift will be for endowment, so that its annual earnings help the library every year for a very long time.  That's the kind of legacy I want to leave”

-           Nancy McGill, Member of the Silas Pinney Society

 What are Planned Gifts?

Planned gifts come in many shapes and sizes, and are often the best way for someone who loves the library to make a significant contribution. Some planned gifts are quite simple, like leaving estate proceeds in a will, or even making a stock gift during your lifetime. Other gifts take a bit more planning and expertise, like a charitable gift annuity or a gift of life insurance.

The Foundation staff is here to help, and while we cannot provide tax or legal advice, we can work with you, your family, and your professional advisors to carry out your vision.

 How do they help?

Planned gifts…

-          Enhance educational programs

-          Build collections

-          Support staff

-          Improve facilities

-          Invest in the endowment to insure the future livelihood of our libraries.

The Silas Pinney Society, Dedicated to Planned Giving

The Silas Pinney Society is a group that recognizes and honors those who have chosen to make planned gifts to the Madison Public Library Foundation. Mayor Silas Pinney was credited with the founding of Madison’s first free library in 1875, which was originally housed in City Hall.

It’s easy to become a member – make a legacy gift that makes a long-term difference in Madison’s Public Libraries. Let us know of your intention to make a planned gift and become a member of the Silas Pinney Society.
