Pinney Branch and Hawthorne Branch Endowments Established

The Madison Public Library Foundation recently received gifts to establish endowment funds to benefit the Pinney Branch and the Hawthorne Branch.  Both of these endowments were made possible through a gift from Robert A. Schmid, in memory of his beloved wife, Grace.

According to Mr. Schmid, “For the past twenty years my wife would go to the Pinney Branch, Hawthorne Branch, and the Monona Public Library to pick out books for herself as well as for me.  The staff at these libraries was always very nice to her.” Mr. Schmid has chosen to memorialize his wife’s fondness of these Madison Public Library branches through the establishment of endowment funds for both Pinney Branch and Hawthorne Branch, ensuring the continued growth of resources and materials at these branches.
