Janice Zmrazek, Director

Janice is a School Administration Consultant at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, providing information to district officials and the general public regarding school district reorganization, pupil transportation, school board operations, and school facilities. She has been on the board of directors of the Friends of the Madison Public Library for more than 20 years, and currently serves as board president, as well as coordinating membership, member communication, and the production of the newsletter for the organization. She is also a board member and the newsletter editor for the Friends of the Alicia Ashman Branch Library and a member of the South Madison Friends. As a long time Friends member she represents the interests of all Friends groups to the Foundation. Several years ago Janice was involved in the library's long range planning process, which has influenced branch development, planning for a new central library, and also the creation of the MPL Foundation. She notes "It has been great to see the creation and enhancement of the branch libraries and to see the MPL Foundation grow from those humble beginnings to what it is today - and to finally look forward to the construction of a new Central Library to serve as the flagship for services in our community."
